Life challenges: actions & words

With less than a week left before returning back to campus. This is my go to moment in planning my schedule, re-updating my calendar, and sending out emails. I'm the type of person who needs to have a plan, an agenda as accurately as possible to keep me on track and make sure everything I have to do, ultimately gets done.

T h i s  i s  i t. The most important year of my college career, when the mcat happens, when I need to decide if medical school really is for me, when I have to find research and volunteer, when biochem can destroy me. But what is life without challenges and what is strength without weakness right?

----------------- Life challenges.

During my pinteresting times, I enjoy pinning quotes, health blogs, clothes and whatnot just because I can go back reread those quotes and say "that's so true!" But why is it that once you're in that situation, there is always an excuse to not live by the quote. Better yet, why can't we take our own advice? Let's take a step back and evaluate ourselves.

WORDS:
It's how we primary communicate our emotions, how we establish trust, how we induce friendships. Words is not something to be taken lightly. May it be a joke that is hilarious to you, can be penetrating and hurtful to someone else. Something I learned recently.

Its true, girls, we love to gossip, chat, talk about that girl's boyfriend or her weird colored hair. Its in our blood to do so, but take it up as a challenge, T.H.I.N.K. before speaking, difficult isn't it?

"The tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to break a heart, so be careful with your words"

ACTIONS:
Are your actions congruent with your words? Have you ever told someone you would do something and not do it because you "don't feel like it"? Have you ever told someone whose world is crumbling apart that it's simply "going to be okay." Yes it is a kind gesture, but easier said than done. Sometimes, it may be what they want to hear, sometimes it really isn't. Next time, while comforting friends, give them a hug and try understanding (it is an action) their perspective because he/she came to you as a friend in need. The most hurtful thing you can do is tell them they are wrong for feeling the way they do.

Sadly, sometimes it takes hardship and desperate times to find out who your true friends are who is truly there for you because anyone can simply say "I'll always be here for you no matter what." Easier said, than done.

Point is, be honest with your self, be honest with your heart, and be honest with your actions. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Words are easier said than done and actions speak way louder than words as quoted by Ralph Emerson, "what you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say." We can always apologize over and over again, but if the actions don't change, the words then become meaningless.

So I challenge you to try it.

IT HAS BEEN AN EXHAUSTING SUMMER!

Without a doubt, chemistry and physics placed a mental and physical strain on me. But its over, finally over and surprisingly, I miss it a lot. Nonetheless, this summer has taught me so much; life skills I will cherish for the rest of my life.

1) I think I finally learned how to rock college, HARD.
In all seriousness, unless you're born with the brains and the motivation magically installed within you, college is just a motion you go through: classes, parties, clubs, friends. I know I use to go to class just because I had to, I've never been to office hours because hours were "inconvenient", and listening to ALL the lectures for 3 days before the exam was  hardcore "studying." But this summer, I learned to fight all of this. Working on assignments a little at a time as they were assigned until the due date, studying at LEAST a week before with more than 5 practice exams, and of course not ditching class really paid off. I learned to discipline myself. You're probably thinking, "yeah yeah, I've heard of this before" but in all honestly, take a step back and look at yourself. Are you happy with your college career? When you graduate, will you regret paying the amount you did for what you got out of it?

2) MOTIVATION - To not achieve perfect but to achiever better
At the beginning of the summer, I set a physical challenge for myself. Healthy up, lose some flab here and there, and achieve some undeniable tonage I can be proud of. A lot of people tell me that I am already so small, so thin, that I don't have anything to lose. But after being a dedicated my fitnesspal for over 2 months, I had some unhealthy eating habits. But through this ever lasting journey, I finally learned how to portion control and choose healthy substitutes. I MUST also thank pinterest for keeping me super motivated. As I scroll through the "Health and Fitness" section, all I ever end up doing (most of the time) is lace up my shoes and run. I must say, my body is the greatest investment I have ever made.I love waking up in the morning, feeling great about how healthy I feel and how much better it can be tomorrow.

3) Living life to its fullest.
A girl with a wild imagination, lots of thinking time, and a hurt soul, I won't lie, it was 100% ridiculously distracting. Who thinks about school when there are other things to worry about like family and loved ones right? True, but wrong. When life gets real, you fight. Because as difficult as it is, the world is depending on you to make a difference. Search high and low, far and wide for your purpose. Mine is to ultimately share my passion of taking care of others and inspiring others to be better than who they were yesterday. So, I will strengthen myself, protect myself, and endure it all in hopes that tomorrow, I can inspire.

Current Goals:
For my future: Preparing for the MCATS, at least 2 hours a day.
For my health: Abs and legs
